ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: CSABA KLEMENT
What was the first GIF you made?
Unfortunately I don’t have a clue because generally I delete those works that I’m not pleased with. But if my blogspot is right the watermelon GIF was the first one.
What kind of a process do you go through to create your art?
First I draw something rounded, then I give it a smiling face and at the end I fill it with some candy color. That’s about it :)
It’s really that simple, because I don’t like to work too much on one picture. So, when I have a good idea or an associative thought, I sketch it down very quickly or even make a GIF out of it. If it takes more than two hours I lose my patience.
Of course, there were some times when I worked on a picture for days (but it’s really rare).
Why GIF art?
I had my degree in animation and generally that’s what I do for a living. And, as I already mentioned, I like doing things quickly so I started making 10 second short films. But most of these would also work as loops, so I figured, why not just make them GIFs? Besides, making a GIF instead of a film saves me the time of choosing the right sound effects.
Favorite GIF artists? Artists in general?
Hell no! I love everyone, for real!! Although, I don’t really get the abstract GIFs, but as long as there is an audience for something, that’s pretty cool.
